Mini Medical School Spotlights Women's Health
With the adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of
cure" well in mind, IUSM presenters will deliver a ton of information
on contemporary women's health issues at the fall series of Mini
Medical School.
"Among their many roles in society, women are the driving
force in seeking health care for their families, but they often
neglect their own well being," says Bette G. Maybury, MD, clinical
associate professor in neurology and co?moderator of Mini Medical
School. "There's a need to better inform women consumers and
caregivers, and this year's presenters tackle health and social
issues of paramount concern."
Mini Medical School meets each Tuesday evening October through
November. The fall series will initiate two important changes: each
session will feature two presenters instead of one and will be held
in the Ruth Lilly Health Education Center instead of University
Place Hotel Conference Center.
Topics to be addressed include domestic violence, gynecology, weight
control, incontinence, osteoporosis and wellness after the childbirth
years, cardiopulmonary risks and care, breast cancer, anxiety, addictions
and sexually transmitted diseases.
Mini Medical School is organized by the School's Faculty Community
Relations Committee and the Office of Media Relations, and sponsored
by IU Medical Group and Indianapolis radio station WIBC.
