Biochem/Molecular Biology Chair Appointed
Zhong-Yin Zhang, PhD, has been selected as the chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Before his appointment, he was professor in molecular pharmacology and biochemistry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where he also served as an investigator at the college’s cancer and diabetes centers.
Dr. Zhang replaces Thomas D. Hurley, PhD, who has served as interim department chair since IU Distinguished Professor Robert A. Harris, PhD, stepped down from that position in 2004. After earning his undergraduate degree and working as a chemist at Nankai University in the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Zhang relocated to West Lafayette, Ind., where he earned a doctorate in biochemistry.
