Survey Seeks Long Lost Classmates, Queries Alumni

Thanks to the recent survey conducted by the Office of Alumni Relations, IUSM alumni will have an easier time looking up classmates. And the editorial board of this magazine will be better able to direct content to match alumni interests!

The survey, which was mailed to all alumni in February, had an excellent response according to Director of IUPUI Alumni Relations Stefan Davis. "Responses suggest alumni are most interested in current research developments and information about other alumni and classmates," he says.

Learning what topics most interest alumni was one goal of the survey. The second was to locate alumni for whom the office has no valid mailing address. As a result of the survey, 1,000 alumni have been "found." A directory with all names and known addresses of IUSM alumni will be mailed this fall to current members of the Alumni Association. It is also available for purchase through the Office of Alumni Relations.

An added benefit of the survey was an increase in submissions for the "Alumni News" section of Indiana University Medicine. Most alumni rated this section of high interest.

"The more news the better," says Davis. "In addition to short news items from alumni, we welcome ideas and suggestions for stories. And we would love to hear from alumni who might be interested in submitting a guest editorial. We are eager to include stories of activities that will be of interest to other alumni."
