Improvements in diabetes management could prevent severe complications for the 16 million Americans afflicted. . .but only if physicians put new knowledge into practice. Seven Clinton County, Indiana, physicians are working with IUSM's internationally recognized Diabetes Research and Training Center to lead the way.

First On The Scene

Response time is crucial for cardiac arrest victims. The IU faculty in the Krannert Institute of Cardiology is evaluating whether the use of portable automated external defibrillators (AEDs) by police officers can improve survival.

A Parting Note On A "Legacy of Caring"

Outgoing IU Alumni Association President Clarence Boone, MD '56, has worked for 34 years to improve the University's and the state's education systems and the rights of minorities within them.
