Eleven Specialties
Rank in Top 50 Nationally
U.S. News & World Report has ranked eleven clinical specialties affiliated with IU, Riley and Methodist hospitals - Clarian Health Partners - as among the best in the nation in its 10th annual "America's Best Hospitals Guide." Of 6,299 U.S. hospitals, only 1,985 met the initial eligibility criteria and 188 scored high enough to be ranked this year.
Rankings for twelve of the sixteen specialties were based on reputation, mortality rate and various medical data including nursing data and number of discharges. Rankings for the four remaining specialties - ophthalmology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and rehabilitation - were based on reputation alone. The eleven specialties that were ranked were cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; digestive tract; ear, nose and throat; geriatrics; gynecology; hormonal disorders; neurology and neurosurgery; respiratory disorders; rheumatology; and urology.
"We are pleased that many of our programs have been recognized in the data-based rankings," says Robert W. Holden, Dean, IU School of Medicine. "This enhanced recognition for the School of Medicine faculty and Clarian Health Partners is a positive outcome for our partnership. I wish to extend my sincerest appreciation to all of the caregivers and support staff who made this possible."
"This honor demonstrates the success of Clarian Health's and IU School
of Medicine's partnership and the commitment of all of our employees and affiliated
physicians to serve the health care needs of our patients," says Bill Loveday,
president and CEO of Clarian Health.
