Annual Art Event Benefits The Homeless


The Health and Homelessness Project was again the winner in the eighth Evening of the Arts program presented by IUSM students. This performing and visual arts showcase benefits area medical clinics that serve the homeless. Money raised from ticket sales and a silent auction is used to purchase medical supplies and equipment forclinics in Marion and Johnson counties. This year the event raised nearly $5,300.

The Health and Homelessness Project was created in 1989 by IUSM students to provide medical services to the homeless community. Students and physician volunteers provide staffing on a rotating basis at several clinics throughout the year. The performing and visual arts benefit was added in 1992.
